What We Believe
Our goal around Wellspring is not to be a club where people are in or out. Our goal is to be a body, each person playing a part of a greater whole. As you find your role, you’ll discover more of who you were called to be.
God the Creator
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
There is one God who created all things. God created everything we see and everything we can’t see. Because God made everything, he also owns everything. We are only managers of all that we have, because it all belongs to its creator. This includes our very selves. Our lives do not belong to us, but are a gift from God to be treasured, enjoyed, and honored.
God the Holy Spirit
I believe in the Holy Spirit...
God the Creator and God the Son sent God the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of each one of us that we might receive the power to live life as we are called to live. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to participate in the life of Christ.
As the Holy Spirit captures our lives we are united with Christ and his life becomes our life. As we live in the power of the Holy Spirit the Holy Spirit flows through us, echoing the call of Christ to all those around us. In this way the Holy Spirit calls people together as the Body of Christ, and the Church is formed.
God the Son
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
We consistently struggle (fail) to live in such a way that honors the lives we’ve been given. In our effort to define our own value we reject God’s gifts in favor of our own productivity. This separates us from God, which cuts us off from the Source of Life.
Jesus is our Savior. When Jesus welcomes us to participate in the life of Christ, we receive his perfect humanity as our own. In Christ we are united with God, the Source of Life, once again.
The Body of Christ
...the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
The body of Jesus of Nazareth ascended from the earth and now resides at the right hand of God the Creator. The Body of Christ on earth is his Church, made up of all those people who have received the Holy Spirit and so live the life of Christ. It is we who give fleshly expression to the Spirit on earth today.
As various parts of one body we live out our callings in service to the greater movement. This requires that we lay our lives down for one another that we might together realize the vision of declaring and demonstrating the rule and reign of God in the places that we inhabit.
